The Salt Museum in Pomorie was opened on September 7, 2002. It was created with the financial support of the European Union through the Phare program in implementation of the All about Salt (ALAS) projects 2001-2002 and "Development of the Salt Museum in Pomorie as a completed object of cultural tourism" 2004-2005.
Pomorie Museum is the only specialized museum in Bulgaria and in Eastern Europe to produce salt by solar evaporation of sea water.
The salt museum is located in the area of the old town, on the tight strip between the Pomorie Lake and the salt-mines, just behind the stadium and sanatorium of the Ministry of Health.
