The house of Georgi Mavridi, also known as Lamartin's House, is a Renaissance house in Plovdiv.
It is located on Dzhambaz tepe, 19 Knyaz Tseretelev Str, on the corner with "Zora" Street in the Old Town.
The house of Mavridi is among the largest symmetrical houses in the Old Town. Because of the steep terrain on which the house was built, the facade towards the street is 3-storey, and to the yard - 2-storey. The ground is irregular in shape, which is corrected on the 2nd upper floors by stepped-out oriels. The rooms are equally divided: 2 large rooms, a smaller room, service rooms and a lounge.
It was built in 1829-1830 for the rich merchant Georgi Mavridi. In 1833, for 3 days, the French national poet and prominent politician Alfons de Lamartin stayed there on his return trip from the Orient. Since then the house has been named after his name.
The Lamartine House was declared a monument of culture and since 1978 it has been used as a creative base of the Union of Bulgarian Writers. One of the rooms is dedicated to a permanent exhibition devoted to the French poet.
