House Hindlian

Hindlian House is a house-museum on the territory of the architectural and historical reserve "Ancient Plovdiv" in Plovdiv, built in the beginning of the 19th century on street "Artin Gidikov". The house was owned by Stepan Hindliyan and is one of the few preserved in the original symmetrical houses in Plovdiv. There is the only well-kept bathroom with hot and cold running water. Today the house is used as a museum and cultural center for exhibitions.

The house was built in the period 1835 - 1840 by an unknown master, ordered and tasted by the rich merchant and farmer Stepan Hindlian.

In 1915, at the beginning of the Armenian genocide, the Hindlian family left the house and granted it as a refuge for Armenian refugees.

In 1974 the building was declared a monument of culture, being restored and furnished with furniture from the time of the Bulgarian National Revival.
