Region Varna

Region Varna

Bulgaria is divided in 28 provinces, each one of which focuses in itself the economy, governance, the national and local characteristics of the respective region. Further on, these provinces are divided into municipalities which represent the main local government bodies of the country. Each municipality is autonomous, with its own budget and assets.

There are 12 municipalities in the Province of Varna with total population of 489,809 citizens. The population of Varna Municipality only is 346,000 citizens, making up to 70% of the total province population.

Varna is the third largest city in Bulgaria, with an area of 205 sq. km. Its situation on the Northern shore of the Black Sea, along with its richness in natural resources make it one of the famous resorts Europewide, definitely the largest one in the Black Sea region.

It also happens to be on the crossroads between Western Europe and the Middle East.

The climate in the area and its other natural conditions are favourable for the development of industry, trade, tourism and communications. Varna is an ideal place for investors with business interests in the Balkan region.

The geographical position and the existing infrastructure have determined the successful development of the city for centuries. The well developed sea and cargo transport has always been a determinant for the fame of the city as a crossroads between the East and the West.

There are three major factors in the infrastructure of the city: Port Varna, Varna International Airport and the telecommunications network.
