The house of the prominent Bulgarian writer, artist and public figure Dimitar Chorbadzhiyski - Chudomir in Kazanlak was declared a museum the following year after his death in 1968. It is an architectural monument of culture of national importance. In its present form the museum complex was opened in 1979 and includes the modest Chudomir's home with its unique atmosphere; artistic-documentary exhibition, located in three halls with a total area of 300 square meters; a modern fund and a cozy conference room with multimedia equipment.
The museum is a municipal cultural institute and cares for the preservation, exploration and popularization of Chudomir's extremely rich creative heritage. It holds more than 15,000 original manuscripts, drawings, letters, sketches, books and personal belongings of Chudomir and his wife, the painter Mara Chorbadjiyska.
