Regional Historical Museum - Plovdiv was established in 1951 as a scientific and cultural organization for the search, study, preservation and presentation of the cultural values for the past of Plovdiv and the Plovdiv region for the period from the 15th to the 20th century.

Over 60,000 exhibits are stored in its collection, among which are unique collections of cool and firearms, ordens and medals, personal belongings, military equipment, printed publications, clothing and objects from the city life, photographs and documents. Regional History Museum - Plovdiv has four expositions - "Bulgarian Revival", "Book publishing in Bulgaria in the second half of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century", "Union of Bulgaria 1885" and Museum of Modern History.
